The story of how one question changed everything

Ten years ago, kids began showing up to Dawood Thomas clothing boutique in Pen Lucy asking for change. But one 10-year-old boy named Davonte asked a different question that would change the trajectory of an entire community: "How can I earn some money?"

Dawood gave him a broom to sweep his store. The next day, Davonte came back with a twin brother. Before long, Saturdays became synonymous with cleaning up the block. What started as one man paying kids out of pocket has grown into a comprehensive nonprofit serving 500+ youth across multiple Baltimore neighborhoods.

This wasn't just Dawood plan—it was his fathers vision. Charles "Slim Charley" Thomas dreamed of unifying Baltimore youth, teaching them to respect themselves, respect others, and respect their communities. Today, My Fathers Plan honors that legacy.
